They say third times the charm so I'll try this yet again: I've heard several people using all different hardware setups have the same problem: when recording oneshots or disk-based tracks to an existing acid song, upon playback the new tracks sound out of synch with the existing loop- based tracks even though they were just recorded at the existing tempo. It's more like a tempo discrepancy than an offset because you can reroute the loop audio and rerecord it into Acid as a long oneshot or diskbased track and when playing the new track with the original loop track at the same time, you get a flanging effect which is a moving comb-filter caused by the same audio being delayed by an increasing or decreasing amount (i.e. a tempo discrepancy). I've several people post something similar to this question here and there hasn't been one answer. Any takers? |

Brad... sorry I can't help, but yes, I've had the same problem, and did a post, and no, there were no replies... I'm working on it, but still the only temporary solution I've done is to go to cakewalk and record my long audioo tracks there (which isn't what I'm supposed to have to do, right?). Let me know if you find out... e-mail is KaBudokan@aol.com Brad wrote: >>They say third times the charm so I'll try this yet again: >> >>I've heard several people using all different hardware >>setups have the same problem: when recording oneshots or >>disk-based tracks to an existing acid song, upon playback >>the new tracks sound out of synch with the existing loop- >>based tracks even though they were just recorded at the >>existing tempo. >> >>It's more like a tempo discrepancy than an offset because >>you can reroute the loop audio and rerecord it into Acid as >>a long oneshot or diskbased track and when playing the new >>track with the original loop track at the same time, you >>get a flanging effect which is a moving comb-filter caused >>by the same audio being delayed by an increasing or >>decreasing amount (i.e. a tempo discrepancy). >> >>I've several people post something similar to this question >>here and there hasn't been one answer. >> >>Any takers? >> |

When I record a new track it is often noticeably delayed from the rest of the project's tracks. I've found that routinely going into the "preferences" for audio sync and clicking/unclicking on the pre-roll buffer checkbox will usually allow me to record in sync for one take. Subsequent takes go out of sync again unless I do the click/unclick hack. I'm using a Creative AWE64 on a PII system. Which page are you doing this "pre-roll buffer" change? Q: What sound hardware are you using? Could you tell me what the advanced page for the audio is telling you about the cards interpolate settings? Peter, Just for reference, I am using Acid Music, and therefore don't have the audio preferences page (even though my manual talks about it, I was told that's only for the big boys :( - thinking about joining that club). I am using an AMD K6-2-400 and a SB Awe 64 card, 64 mb memory. I tried again, just counting along to the beats to test the sync and I still can't fix it... dunno... Looks like I'll be exporting wav files to Cakewalk anyway, huh? Peter Haller wrote: >>Which page are you doing this "pre-roll buffer" change? >> >>Q: What sound hardware are you using? Peter??? What explains it? Using Acid Music? Usind an AMD? An Awe 64??? Little more info please? Anything I can do to help this? I was talking about the "Pre-roll buffer" change. I was looking in ACID Pro for this setting and could not find it.... We are looking into the record and sync problem. I am one of the engineers. We have looked at the problem. Once the problem is determined and a solution found, the fix will appear in a futute update. I know you want to know when. I can't tell you that as I don't know. If we do need more information, somebody will contact you. Thanks Peter Admiral Webmaster wrote in message ... >Any idea what the holdup is? Peter, I just bought Acid and I'm having exactly this problem right now. I noticed that this thread died way back in march/april of 99. What was the resolution? I purchased Acid and Sound-Forge expressly for the purpose of recording guitar tracks along side loops. It will be big disappointment if i can't get it working. thanks rafael Peter Haller wrote: >>I am one of the engineers. i think if you bought ACID, there's an upgrade available to ACID 2.0....you probably could download the upgrade from the site....ACID 2.0....you don't have to ACIDize loops in 2.0 and I think that is where the problem comes in w/ playback at different rates.....email me for any further details, nate wrote: >>Peter, >> >>I just bought Acid and I'm having exactly this problem right now.
