Subject:Mixing Music in Acid

I am a dj that is interested in mixing music with Acid. I
previously purchase Sound Forge 4.5 and found out that it
was very difficult to match the tempos of two songs. I
just purchased the Remix Factory which includes Acid and CD
Architect. I was playing around with Acid yesterday and
found that it does match tempo. However, if I try to
insert two wav file from songs, it won't recognize the
tempo match. For example, I tried to mix Will Smith
"Miami" with N Sync "I Want You Back". The BPMs are
obviously different, can Acid match these beats
automatically or do I have to manually do a tempo change.
Do any of the programs allow a simple way to matching BPMs
of actual songs (not just loops)?

If the song is really simple, and has no changes in the basic groove,
then
you can figure the number of beats, and do very precise tempo
matching. A
lot of it has to do with your studio chops and basic musical
knowledge.
There's no super easy formula, and no software that really
accomplishes this
task any easier than ACID.

I agree that there is no easy formula for matching tempos. However,
when working with these dance tracks, I always start with the fours.
Change the number of beats to 4, then 8, then 12, then 16, etc.
Usually, dance tracks will hit on one of these beat counts. As a DJ,
you probably know that once you get close, shorten the increment to 1
or
2 beats up or down till you hit it dead on. You can't fail. But
you
might need to do a little creative drawing. Maybe shortening or
lengthening the loops a little.

Good luck.

Unfortunately Acid cannot automatically match BPM's if you don't first tell Acid
what the BPM's are of the songs. But Acid does make it very easy to set the BPM.

1. Start off by looking at the lines in Acid these are your beat guides eg 1 2 3 4 beat.

2. Place the 1st beat of the song on the 1st Acid beat line.

3. If the song does'nt start on the 1st beat chop off the begginning using the split function.

4. Then by using the pitch shift and looking at the guidelines of acid and the waveform( by
looking at the waveform you can see the 1 2 3 4 beat ) match these up with acid. Scroll
horizontally across the song until you see that the lines and waveform match.

5. The pitch can be adjusted more precisely by holding CTRL+SHIFT and double clicking on the
pitch shift number.

6. Once you have it lined up roughly add a loop and listen to see that the beats match. Do
some additional tweaking of the pitch to get it just right.

7. When its just right go to the properties of the song and flag stretch from tempo and put the
Pitch no into the adjoining field.

8. You are now done!! You can now adjust the tempo or mix it with another song etc. Alot of
people like putting in the loop and adjusting the tempo based on what you hear like beat
mixing but its a lot easier and faster using the lines to get the correct BPM.

Hi!

What you have to do is find out what is
the exact BPM of the tracks you wish to
mix, then set the "stretch from tempo"
option in the PROPERTIES of your loop
and whenever you'll change the BPM
of the song, the loop will match it.
