I'm scoring my first motion picture and when I want to change the tempo the audio in the movie goes off. Is there a way to correct this?

Thank you,
Randy

How is the audio in the movie used in ACID? It should be a one shot vs any kind of beat mapped or ACIDized setting. This way ACID wont attempt to timestrech it.

What Peter said. One-shots are the only ACIDized form of digital audio that are not timestretched by ACID in any way giving a "what you hear is what you get" approach.

To change the properties for a given clip, click the clip to select it, then open the clip properties window (Ctrl+Alt+3 is the shortcut). Under the General tab, change the "ACID Type" option to, "One-Shot."

Yes I understand that and that is what boggles my mind. The audio is set to oneshot. However when I move the tempo from 120 to something the audio goes out of sync to the movie. The audio does not speed up or slow down but as I move the tempo the placement of the audio where the curser is changes.

Originally I imported wmv file.

Thank you for all your help.

How long is the video you are working with?

Describe exactly what you are doing. Be as specific as you can.

How are you determining 'sync'?

I have been trying to duplicate your problem. I am not seeing any problems.

Could you give some details about your project?

What does the timeline look like?

How many tempo changes?

What is the Video file format?

What is the audio format?

Are you using the ASIO drivers of your Tone Port?

Hmm.

Let's try and simplify things here.

In a standard tempo of 120 BPM, the duration of one measure is exactly two seconds, correct?

Let's say you plunk down a One-shot that's exactly two seconds long beginning at the second measure, which would be exactly the two second mark on the timeline.

Now, change the tempo to, say, 80 BPM. What happens? The One-shot remains at the second measure BUT begins to play at THREE seconds instead of two seconds. You'll also notice that the One-shot ends before it hits the third measure.

This is the order of things because time is related to tempo. Change the tempo and you adversely affect the time (and vice versa).

Since you're dealing with One-shots here, the tempo may change, but the duration of the audio in the One-shot remains the same. A two-second sample remains two seconds long. It'll start at the second measure but end before the third measure in a tempo slower than 120 BPM.

Does that at least help clear up any confusion?

Hello Peter,

Sorry for the delay. My timeline tempo is 120 and I imported a wmv video file. I'm using the asio drivers to my tone port.

Now when I change the tempo it is not the audio of the movie that is effected but the video itself moves causing it to go out of sync to the dialogue audio.

I notice in Studio Pro there are no options for a movie just as is.
I just bought Acid Pro and will try it there.

Your friend,
Randy
