While we're at it - the old way of being able to drag a voice track over a ducked music track with auto pre-fading of the destination track on either side of the new material was also very intuitive and worked perfectly every time. The new Mix dialogue is very cumbersome for this. A real pain in the rear when working on radio station promos. I sure would like the old action back.

Isn't the "[sys] Voice Over mix" setting any good for you then? It does exactly what you describe (unless I missed something here).

Not quite - the new voiceover function doesn't seem to allow a PRE fade in and out. The voice over mix level seems to hit suddenly which is rather disturbning to my ear. Changing the fade times only affects the audio after the voiceover has started...seems like a bug to me. The fade levels on a voiceover should change before (and after) the overlapping segments, not during. The old behavior worked perfectly, as if you were mixing live "on the air", so to speak..

SF9 is not the same at all. Just finished talking with Matt K at Sony tech support. I'm looking for the same thing -- End of a performance, fade back the music/applause and lay in a voiceover at the end. A no-brainer in SF8 Mix. Not possible in SF9. Seems it's not possible to fade the destination file. Really dissapointed.

to SF staff: Let me add one more comment to this because it has to be a bug. and I havent seen a response form Sony. Please be sure you also bring back a way to set the amount of PRE fade (out and in). Right now all you can do is begin the fade at the beginning of the mix point, . The level should come down just before the new source audio is added. This is the way the old behavior functioned and it seems like it was forgotten in v 9. Please fix this.
Thanks
