Subject:SF8: Wave Hammer not working

I have a legal copy of Sound Forge 8, fully up to date, on my Vista system. When I try to use Wave Hammer I get a popup that says:

"Upgrade to Sound Forge® software and get Wave Hammer..."

Uh, I already own Sound Forge software.

Please don't tell me I have to upgrade to SF 9. After all, the box image shown in this popup clearly is that of SF 8!

Sound Forge 8 is not supported under Vista.

While some have had success, Forge 9.0 is the first release to support Vista.

Sound Forge 8.0 is not officially supported under Windows Vista.

Having said that, the reason you are seeing the upsell is because Vista blocks the method Sound Forge 8.0 uses to scan plug-ins.

Some users have been able to get around this by disabling DEP for everything and/or just for forge80.exe. More details here.
