Thanks for pointing these out!

I used the analog meters on a family media PC.
(Media PC's have stylish small computers cases that may have a small LCD
built-in.) Put the meter on this display with a blue/grey background and you
have a very nice part of your home entertainment system.

I've got these, very pretty and free but they seem to be a bit of a CPU hog.

I've found these to be the most professional meters available:

Maybe I'm missing something - what's wrong with the meters in Vegas?

I with Jessariah... I don't see the point of these meters.
Is it purely for aesthetics or do they truly serve a purpose in your workflow?

Calibration, flexibility, ability to monitor sound outside of Vegas. I do a great deal of music editting. The external VU meters are invaluable.

The ones in Vegas are only PPM meters, VU meters give you a better idea of how loud it sounds. Then again SF has VU or PPM meters in various flavours. For pure bling though real hardware meters are the go. Industry standard meters are the ones made by Durrough.

I can also recommend Inspector XL.

Of course it's incredibly frustrating that metering and processing plug-ins have to share a single window...
