sluggish undos with new quad core?

Hi all, i just upgraded my system with a new Intel Quad Core and 4 gig of ram with an 640mb 8800 GTS graphics card, but i am experiencing extremely sluggish behaviour with some of the most run of the mill tasks such as undoing a simple operation like splitting a clip or dropping a clip on the timeline. These tasks used to undo instantly with my old single core, but now take 3 to 7 seconds whilst Vegas 7 "thinks about" doing it...... Even opening an existing project seems to take longer! Rendering is lightning fast and previewing from the timeline is definately smoother but simple stuff that you'd expect to happen straight away, doesn't.
I am running version 7d. The system was totally re-formatted and all fresh installs and i originally put version 7e on but every time i'd try to open an existing project, it'd crash (an exception has occurred), so i uninstalled and put 7d on. The sluggishness was happening with 7e though as well.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

T

i have a similar setup but none of your problems. I seem to remember sluggish behavior before I dumped Vista and went back to XP SP2. Also check that you do not have too much memory allocated to ram preview. 512 seems optimum for me.
