I must have done something to my computer. Most of my Sony programs crash since yesterday. Rebooted no help. Acid Pro 6, Sound Forge 8, Vegas Movie Studio 4 all say "Sorry but this program must close". Anyone every have this problem?
Thanks

Well, I removed my capture card software and now all Sony apps work. I use a USB capture device. The company is ADSTech DVD Xpress. There used to be a conflict in a .dll named extmondrv.dll in the Video Hardware Drivers directory. But overwritting it with an empty file would fix the issue. That does not seem to be the case now. I tried that and the Sony programs complained that something was wrong with that dll and crashed anyway. Anyone know a fix, or point me in the right direction. If not I will have to continue to install then uninstall the capture driver. A big pain. Thanks Jd

Have you contacted the vendor of the capture card and its software?

No, I used a different capture card before, internal one, and it caused the same issue. I would guess that is it a dll that the Sony software is crashing on. I am not saying it is a Sony issue, but nothing else seems to have problems. I don't have much faith that ADS would fix the problem. And all 3 for my Sony programs crash. Do you have any idea what the extmondrv.dll is for? Could this be causing it like before? Thanks Peter.

extmondrv.dll is a driver we provide to allow viewing video on a secondary monitor.

I will check to see if there are issues realated to it an the ADS stuff.

It appears that "hcwsolocap.ax" is causing the problem.

This is some kind of active X support for a capture card (Hauppauge WinTV-PVR) I believe. You should try to locate this file and temporarily rename it to see if the problem goes away.

If it does, then contact the vendor that provided this file and see why this is crashing when you run ACID Music Studio. I Googled this file and discovered many comments where this file was causing numerous problems with other apps.

thanks Peter
That file is loaded by the ADS capture program also. It does use the same capture chip that Hauppauge uses. In fact, when this happened before, it was a Hauppauge card. The dll it crashs with is the extmondrv.dll. I may just have to delete the capture program when I use Sony programs. I was able to rename it before, but no more. I will contact ADS but again, I have little hope of them even answering my question. At least I get help here.
Thanks
Jd

Em, so what's a capture card?

Captures Video. I use it to make DVD's. My wife is away on a job that does not have easy TV. So I capture here favorite TV shows, make DVD's, then mail them to her.
She likes Closer, Standoff, and Dr Who.
