Sony A1 16:9?

TeeJay wrote on 7/23/2007, 4:11 AM
I have a Sony Z1 and an A1. The Z1 captures and displays in the Vegas preview as true 16:9 but the A1 has the black bars top and bottom and i just can't figure out why..... Is it not true 16:9?
Obviously I can use Pan/Crop to stretch it but i don't see why it should be necessary.

Does anyone else here own an A1 and have a solution to this?

Cheers,

T

I don't know what's different at your end, but I have the same two cams and the footage from both captures as authentic16:9 and cutting between them works well.

Maybe something in your A1 settings ...

I don't own one but I've used one and a Z1 and as Peter says, shooting HDV and capturing HDV into a 16:9 project, no black bars top and bottom. Certain your project is 16:9??

Yep, both cameras shoot HDV and downsample to DV from the camera. Project is PAL DV Widescreen.......

You certain in the downsample the camera isn't cropping to 4:3, there is an option in these cameras to do that. The other possibility is that the 16:9 flags are missing in the captured DV, to fix that just change the media properties.

On the A1 check the down convert menu. Options are squeeze, letterbox or edge crop. I bet you have the wrong one selected. You want squeeze (or as my menu says, "squeze.")

Jeaton, that is absolutely correct! Thanks so much. I had it set to letterbox, so now i have changed it to Squeze (squeeze :)) and all is good in the universe again.
Thanks everyone else also for your suggestions
