TV News Branding

I'm working with a company to create faux newscasts to be used in a corporate training program over the next several years. Making the segments appear "real" is important. It's necessary for me to create a news station image package to give the segments continuity.

Looking ahead a couple of years, when analog TV gives way to all digital broadcasting, I am assuming that the way TV News has traditionally been branded will change. Brands such as "TV 10 Action News", "News 4", etc. will be updated to reflect the new, all digital era.

How are stations handling these changes in your market? What type of branding changes can we expect to see? Do you have any examples that I can draw upon?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I don't think you'll see many changes at all with HD. 9 News here in Denver does advertise that they are the "First and only HD News in Colorado" but it really didn't change the main tag line: "9 News, where News comes first"

Most people are more concerned about the news content than the analog/digital delivery format.

The same is true in Nashville, TN with News Channell 5 HD. The branding did not change at all. I suspect the marketing departments want to keep the familiarity that they have built on for years.

Here in NYC, NBC's channel 4 news has been branded 4HD across the board. All references make mention of HD, the bugs are all 4HD.

Same bugs in my area. They advertise "24 Hours weather on 9.2" but HD has
same as network affiliation but you see "Presented in HD" at head of show.

the bugs put in HD sometimes & so do the promos & the news is (on some stations) advertised as "in HD", but besides that no change in Buffalo.

It's the networks that are making the big stink about HD.
