I'm trying to use Acid Pro 6, but I have been unable to get it to record audio without it dropping out. It will start recording, and then drop after a second or two, then start back. I've also tried recording with my Soundblaster Live card as the device, with the same results. What gives here...does this product actually work??? Oh, and yes....I followed the troubleshooting recommentations of increasing latency settings and disabling other devices....none of this helped.

I have no problems using Cubase LE that came with my Presonus Firebox, so I know there is nothing wrong with my computer, and it has plenty of horsepower and I'm not running other conflicting programs.

Already filled out the form, but in a nutshell...custom built PC with gigabyte motherboard, AMD 64 X2 Athlon Dual Core 3600 (1.91 ghz), 2 GB DDR2800, Realtek Audio (on motherboard), PCI Soundblaster Live card, and Presonus Firebox recording interface, Diamond PCI Video card, HP 18X DVD-RW, Sony CD-RW, Maxtor 40 GB master drive for programs & 137 GB Western Digital SATA drive for recording. USB wireless mouse. Running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

One additional note....I get an error message when I first startup Acid that indicates some kind of network problem with Media Manager not having rights to an account. However, I don't think this should have a bearing on recording audio.

Get into your BIOS setup and disable the Realtek.

Go into Acid and turn off media manager.

I wont comment on the Soundblaster card, but, I dont like Soundblaster at all. If you try a different card, you will have a lot better audio.

I'll try those things, but I had already disabled both the Realtek and the Soundblaster card through Windows Device Manager, and I was only using the Presonus Firebox for audio.

Disable the Media Manager from ACID's general prefs page and see how things work.

Are you using ASIO or Wave Classic drivers to record in ACID?

I think Wave Classic Drivers showed in the dialog box for the audio devices. How do I change to the ASIO drivers?

To change to ASIO, click Options > Preferences > Audio Device. Change the audio device type to the ASIO model.
