Background:
In the past I have used VMS successfully to create one project (relatively simple DVD of Christmas video and a short slideshow set to music). My new project (the one that is causing me trouble) is a slideshow set to music for my Dad’s 60th. There is no video, just a bunch of still images set to music. I scanned most of the photos into my computer because they were old pics (before digital).
My computer stats:
Dell Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 with HT Technology (3.0Ghz)
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
Problem: VMS6.0 not responding - the program “hangs” almost immediately after opening the slideshow project. I have approx. 100 photos loaded into this project and three songs. I can only edit for a minute or two before VMS starts hanging (not responding) and I have to end it through task manager and restart the program.
I read another post on the optimal scanning size, I think all the pictures I scanned may be just too large file size…most are very large files (5000KB for one picture) I had read somewhere (not on this forum) to set the scanner to highest resolution to scan old photos, so I had my scanner set to 600dpi.
If jpeg file size is the problem, does anybody have any guidelines for working with jpeg images and music in slideshows? i.e. how many photos maximum or file size max, etc. I plan on creating this type of project often and any knowledge on slideshows would be greatly appreciated!!
