I have a problem trying to get real sounds with my midi. I record with my piano first. Then where it says Soft syn, and your sound card or w.e, i chose my sound card (sounds better). But it wouldnt let me render it.

And i have plugins i wanna add to this program, but i dont know how to install them, i tried preset manager

Please fill out your system spec in your profile.

What type of "midi" do you have?
What type of sound card?

What are you recording? Audio or MIDI?
What do you mean that you "chose your sound card"? Choose your sound card where?

What plugins are you trying to install? Names? Vendors?
Are they VST or DX? Are they FX or Instruments?

If you are using the MIDI sounds from your sound card they will not render unless you physically attached an audio cable from the output of your sound card back into one of the inputs on your sounds card and record it as audio on another track in ACID. In short, you don't want to do this.

Forget about the sounds on your sound card and stick with Soft Synths. They will always render in ACID with no additional effort. If you have ACID 6 Pro then you also have the Native Instruments Kompakt sample player than came with it. This will sound much, much, better than your sound card ever could. If you have a Soundblaster family sound card, get the free Soundfont Player: rgc:Audio SFZ and load the Soundblaster Sound Fonts into that. This will sounds exactly like your sound card since it is using the same sounds as your sound card and it will render in ACID because it's a soft synth (VSTi).

I have a listing of some nice free VSTi's on the VST Instruments page on my web site. These should get you started with a nice set of sounds.
