Special FX

MovieMontage wrote on 6/28/2007, 12:59 PM
I found a site for special effects (http://www.rdproductions.info/Special%20FX.html). The problem is that the effects are all on a black backround and when I overlay them i can't make them fully visable without making the black fade my video out completely. Is there a way to use these effects to their full potential without jeopardizing the picture quality? Thank you very much for your time and have a fine day.

If you are using Vegas version 6 or 7, use the Chroma Keyer effect to remove the black background. Then your video will show through cleanly wherever the overlay is black.

That worked very well, thanks. Oh do you know any other sites where they have free special fx?

Thanks for the link MovieMontage. Some very neat stuff. I downloaded it as an .avi file, and tried to import it into VMS but got the error message about a corrupt file or unknown format. Did they work ok for you? Thanks. Cin
PS. Windows Media Player won't play it either, saying something about it may not recognize the codec that was used?????????

Hi OhMy
If you pls search for AVI and CODEC in the Vegas forums you will find good soloutions to this problem.

Codec problems are common, so it's worth having a copy of GSpot on your system. It analyses video and tells you which codec you need.

Thank you both for the information. I love Gspot (ok, I love almost all free apps :) ), but it really is neat. I get two messages, on two different clips I downloaded. One says 'Bad chunk in frame data: Invalid length' the other one says 'Note: 268 bytes unneeded bytes at end of file' However, under status on both it says 'Codec(s) are Installed' :( I will take 'ritsmer's advice and search the board some more and see if I can figure it out. Thank you again. Cin

Both of those errors suggest to me that your files were corrupted during download.
