Subject:Does NI Kore 1.1 work with Acid Pro 6.0d?

When I LOad Kore as a VST plug-in, I can play & hear the Kore sounds when in editing Kore OR if ACID is stopped. But once I arm the Kore related track and/or hit play and or record I get no sound from Kore. Midi notes & controller data is recorded. On playback there is no sound from Kore. I've loaded other NI VST's & they work fine. Has anyone had sucess with Kore?

Thanks

Nope, Kore 1.1 plays nothing but clicks and overloads with more than two instruments when trying to record or playback. I've tested it with 6d, 6c, and 6b with the same results. I suspect this might be a problem with Kore rather than Acid, as version 1.0 runs in Acid with no such issues.

I've managed to solve this issue (for me at least).

1. Go to Options-> Preferences-> Audio Device

2. Hit Advanced, this should bring up the settings on your sound card.

My Buffering settings were set at 11ms. I set it lower and voila! Kore behaved itself again. My buffer is currently set at 5ms. If I set it higher, the CPU overload problem would pop up again. Kore now seems choke at a high buffer rate, at least in plugin mode (stand alone had no such issues).

Well it seems I spoke too soon. Kore will playback and record just fine in Acid now, but whenever I render it every single note on the Kore track(s) is either clipped short or doesn't play at all. I've tried it with a number of different settings and codecs and the result is always the same.

And back to version 1.0 I go. Aaaaargh!

I am having this same problem. If I don't get an answer soon I'm going to get a cheap soundcard with SPDIF input and record from the Kore's output (not ideal but at least it's still digital)

Does anyone have a workaround for this? I'm still having this problem and Sony's lack of response means I have hundreds of dollars worth of equipent and software gathering dust. Not cool, Sony. Please work with NI to resolve this.

Since 1.0 worked correctly, it can only be concluded that this is an NI problem.

Still, I tried back when this was first reported to get NI to work with us. They were not interested.

Have you contacted NI to get their take on this? We know they have our stuff since we bundle with them. It seems that they don't actually test against ACID though.

I would love to resolve this, but my emails to them have gone un-answered.

I have tried every version of Kore and 1.0 most certainly has NOT worked for me. I've talked to RJ Fielder offline regarding his problem, and if I recall correctly he was going back to 1.0 to try to see if he could get it to work (not that it *had* been working). I've emailed a lot of people individually from the board postings here and on NI's board to see if there was a workaround by downgrading or some other trick, and I haven't talked to anyone who's said they have managed to get Kore of any revision number to work with Acid. I've even tried old versions of Acid 6 as well.

RJ's previous post states that version 1.0 does work with ACID. I can only go by what is stated here.

Have you contacted NI? What was their response?

I just read through the NI forums related to this issue.

RJ says that 1.0 works, but 1.x and above are bad.

A post there says NI is looking at it, but has not gotten back to anybody.

I have emailed NI twice since you posted this, but have not heard anything back.

i emailed NI's tech support back in December and this was the reply I got:

"Hello RJ Fielder,

I could reproduce this behaviour of Kore in Acid, do not have a solution or workaround to this problem for now though. I forwarded it to the engineers and the Kore Productmanagers. Unfortunately I do not have better news for you at the moment.

Best Regards"

So NI's obviously aware of the issue. When (or indeed if) this will ever be resolved is of course anybody's guess. Maybe with the upcoming Kore 2.0 (though I'll be mighty displeased if I have to pay to get this fixed). Kore 1.0 plays and renders without issue on my system, though.

We are working with NI on this issue.

They have contacted us.

I have finally discovered a workaround. Plogue Bidule http://www.plogue.com can be used as a VST plugin, and you can embed other VST plugins within it. Using Bidule as a go-between to prevent Kore from talking directly to ACID seems to resolve the rendering issue in my case. Unfortunately it costs $75, but the good news is it can be a very useful VSTi hosting environment in its own right... I never got the hang of Kore's stage-oriented features but Bidule looks like a no-brainer for setting up a live performance using the same instruments I use in ACID.

I sadly just ran into this most unfortunate rendering issue for the first time. Will Kore 2 work with Acid 6? Will Acid 7 work with Kore 1.1 or Kore 2.0?
