Subject:VSTi & effects routing Posted by: alltheseworlds Date:6/13/2007 9:41:02 PM For someone who has used AcidPro since version 3 this is going to seem pretty weird, but I've only just now started to use VSYi withing the app.... How do I get the output of a VSTi to go to an assignable effects channel ? Here's where I'm up to: 1) I've imported a multitrack MIDI file. It has happily split into several MIDI tracks. All good so far. 2) I've inserted a softsynth (Kontakt) 3) I've routed some of the MIDI tracks to Kontakt. All good again - it plays, I edit the MIDI tracks, adjust Kontakt etc etc 4) I've created an 'assignable effect' channel in the mixer and added an effect. 5) I can't rout the MIDI tracks to the effect channel (fair enough); but neither can I figure out how to rout Kontakt there ! 6) I drop an audio loop into the project I can use the effect channel no problem. But not Kontakt. What I have done is rout Kontakt to BusA. But I can't rout BusA to an effects channel ! This problem must be blindly obvious since I can't find any reference in the manual or in a forum search on "routing" or "vsti". help :-(

What you can do is to use bus insert FX on a synth bus or on a sub bus that the softsynth bus(es) is routed to. This will permit a partial work around, but it will not be the same as sending from a bus to an FX bus. Peter

But it does seem a bit of a restriction and not quite in line with how most DAWs work. Do you think this area might be looked at in the next version ? (I've always just done audio in Acid, recording into it with a full duplex card). I finally understand the continual requests !
