Subject:Installing SF9 - Acoustic Mirror becomes DEMO?

I have both SF8 and SF9 installed. I can't switch to SF9 due to features missing and various bugs to do my daily job. Acoustic Mirror in both SF9 and SF8 is now turning up as a DEMO. How can I restore it to the full version? There doesn't seem to be anywhere except online to register it, but it requires a serial number that it doesn't come with. My only other option is to remove SF9.0 and return to 8.0d until at such a time Sony puts back in features like loop tools and fixes graphical and preview issues where previews do not sound the same as applying effects. If I drag more than 5-10 files into SF8.0 it hangs, SF9.0 seems to have resolved this issues. SF8.0 seems to also hang the CPU randomly doing previews. I've tried this on ASIO, and DirectX and MME drivers for both a Soundblaster card, and an M-Audio Delta 66 (pretty stock standard insdustry card). How can I solve this problem or does this mean I have to just ditch both copies of SF9 I've purchased and return to 8.0? Thanks, Y. |

On the hang issue, on some PCs with hyper-threading, adjusting the DataWnd processing fixes this, see previous threads: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=531492&Replies=5 http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=3&MessageID=417341 SF- 8 had some preview lock-up issues . Make sure you are running the latest update . Message last edited on6/14/2007 9:45:52 AM byrraud. |

OK I just ran into the same problem with Acoustic Mirror in demo mode. Searching around the forum and the support knowledge base doesn't seem to turn up much. Anyone have a fix? Thanks. Larry |

I'm running Acoustic Mirror now. I've tried a range of "mirrors" and they appear to be good. What should I be hearing IF it is Demo mode? It sounds perfect to me? Grazie |

Grazie, The bar next to the SONY logo says demo and it won't recover an impulse which is what I was trying to do and I'm getting the infamous demo beep. Same is true for Wave Hammer (the surround version is ok). This was after a VP8 and SF9 update over the last few days. A solution: Moved the sfhammer.dll and sfmirror.dll dated 1/15/2008 out of the Audio directory, uninstalled SF9d and installed SF9c and all is well. Thanks. Larry |

Ah! Understood thanks. And I understand this for my own particular situ too. After a rebuild of my system, and installing back my s/w, I DID NOT put back SF8! - I started with SF9, and quickly moved up now to SF9d - period! - I guess I wont be putting SF8 back up? I had the demo mode problem for both Wave Hammer and Acoustic Mirror. I installed 9d on top of 9c. I tried to re-register 9d with this install. SF reported an error in trying to register and reported that my installation was bad. I also noticed that SF reported a computer ID number. I dont ever remember this. I uninstalled 9d, reinstalled it, rebooted, put in my SN when requested and then registered it. All is now working as it should be. The only piece of hardware that is different on my PC is a new hard drive (replaced a failed one). I bring this up because putting in a new hard drive can generate a new computer ID. So.... I will ask if those having problems have installed any new hardware since their original install of SF 9x. Is Sony now requiring that computer ID's match the original install? Anyway, the fix is above. I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 fully updated on and AMD Quad, Tyan MoBo. Greg Message last edited on1/24/2008 10:07:06 PM byGreg_M. |
