Subject:SF9 - File size limitation

I am currently working on transferring some of my 4 channel "quadraphoinic" reels to 4.0 DVD-Audio discs. I have been using SF since version 4, and was excited about the new multichannel capabilities of Version 9.

However, when I create a 4.0 wav file from the 4 as recorded mono wav files, I get the following error when I try to save the file:

"The file being rendered has exceeded the maximum size allowed for the selected format"

I understand that this file would be fairly large, since the mono files are recorded at 24/96, but is there a way to get around this limitation. I have 2 Gb of RAM, tons of HD space, and am using a Pentuim D processor.

There is a maximum filesize of 2GB for a WAV file. This is nothing to do with Sound Forge, but is inherent in the WAV spec.

If your 4 channel file is going to balloon out to 2GB or larger, save in the W64 format.

THANKS! I keep forgetting about the .w64 file format. I just tried it and it worked fine. (2.5Gb file!!)
