The application will not work after I upgraded to Vista. The dialog box reads This application is not properly installed. Please reinstall this software in order to continue. Yes, I did reinstall it. Here's an image Link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/FireAlarmFan/ErrMsg.jpg |

Acid, even in it's latest version, 6.0d is not Vista compatible, even though a few have managed something, I've read. The next version, Acid 7 will be Vista compatible. Till then continue to enjoy XP. Message last edited on5/9/2007 10:32:26 PM byPeterWright. |

One of the great problems that the software and computer industry has not addressed is that they neglect the work, time and money that their consumers put into the software they use and the work they archive to it. A computer's constant usage will last roughly about five years and then the microprocessor starts wearing down to the point where the computer is no longer effective. Within the five year period computer hardware has changed to accommodate advances in the new technology. Along with the new hardware technology the predominate Microsoft Windows operating system also changes. Now this leaves the consumers who has been working Ok with their old computer and software out in the cold, cause now they have to buy a new computer that brings a new operating system, which in the case of Sony's Screenblast 4.0 and others alike, become incompatible with the new hardware and operating system software. This neglect towards the consumer who have worked within these programs many tedious hours and years now have to buy new versions of compatible software if it is offered by the software company. It is time that people raise their voices against this injustice and contact the US Attorney General to address this problem. Allot of unnecessary monetary spending by consumers who are going into more and more debt as this goes on in order to keep up with these changes, of which they have no personal control over. Software companies can makes changes to the old software that owners have, who have the necessity to use that software to make a living. It is extremely time consuming to relearn a new version of a software and new operating sytsem and learn the new type of computer hardware. Come on help us please. |

I will not move to Vista for another year or so. XP is stable, and I don't want to mess that up for a while. |

"A computer's constant usage will last roughly about five years and then the microprocessor starts wearing down to the point where the computer is no longer effective." I wasn't aware of this. Neither are my microprocessors. I've got some 10 to 15 year old computers that are still running just fine with their original CPUs. The file/print server in my house is a P3 866MHz beast i built probably 6 or 7 years ago and it's still running perfectly well. It's was my main desktop workstation until i upgraded a couple years ago. It's been on nearly 24x7 all that time and it still gets used for DVD preparation and burning regularly. |

A computer's constant usage will last roughly about five years and then the microprocessor starts wearing down to the point where the computer is no longer effective. My CPU's (some that are 4, 5 and 6 years old) run just fine - the same as the they did out of the box. Now this leaves the consumers who has been working Ok with their old computer and software out in the cold, cause now they have to buy a new computer that brings a new operating system, which in the case of Sony's Screenblast 4.0 and others alike, become incompatible with the new hardware and operating system software. Well - you are not in the cold and you certainly don't have to "buy" anything to continue to use Screenblast 4.0. It will continue to run just fine on your existing hardware. Actually - it would probably run even faster on a new box...as long as XP is installed. However - it is your choice and yours alone to buy a new box with a new OS. That will always bring some issues - especially with older software. But nobody is ever forcing you to upgrade anything at anytime. You can stay with what you have or buy the new stuff. This is more of a case of addressing your "urge to splurge" and nothing more. This neglect towards the consumer who have worked within these programs many tedious hours and years now have to buy new versions of compatible software if it is offered by the software company. It is time that people raise their voices against this injustice and contact the US Attorney General to address this problem. Neglect? Because companies come out with cool new stuff? How is anyone neglecting you? You bought your existing product, you used the existing product and can continue to use the existing product. Sound like you got what you paid for. A lot of unnecessary monetary spending by consumers who are going into more and more debt as this goes on in order to keep up with these changes, of which they have no personal control over. It goes without saying that you have complete personal control of your own wallet. This is a simple case of want vs. need vs "I am happy with what I have".. You decide which is which and spend your money accordingly. Message last edited on6/8/2007 12:02:38 PM byVocalpoint. |

(LOL) More seriously, who in their right minds would expect a software program written for a different OS to work flawlessly on a completely new OS, especially one as radical as Vista? (Not me.) It's no secret that Vista, as a new OS, is in its growing pains. As I recall, Windows XP had the same problem when it was first released. (Now, of course, it's smooth sailing, being about 6 years later.) You just have to give it time rather than try to induce heavy-handed legislation. ON EDIT: Oh, I forgot to add: Most of the time, if you're having trouble installing a program in Vista, you should try browsing to the installer EXE, right-click it and choose, "Run as Administrator."
