I´ve been holding back on this problem for quite a while but now is the time i had enough. The problem is this: I´m arming an audio track for recording and have a couple of takes on the same track. Suddently Acid starts stuttering and the sound is crackling, and jumping foreward randomly in small steps. I found out that it´s only when the track is armed that this happens. Sometimes the problems resolves it self after stopping/starting a couple of times, and other times I have to restart Acid (this doesn´t always solve the problem) It is also on my recordings and it is a bit embarrasing when I have to explain my customers that I dont know why its like that. I have a feeling that it could be an ASIO driver problem, but its like ´that all the audio is running through a USB or FW soundcard. Please help me resolve this problem fast. Alex |

> I have a feeling that it could be an ASIO driver problem I'm thinking the same thing. Perhaps you have your buffer set too low or two high. Tell us more about your hardware setup and what your audio buffer size is set to (Options > Preferences > Audio Device > Advanced). I have mine set to 256 samples which yields 5ms of latency and have no stuttering. ~jr |

Hey, I tried some serious tampering with the buffe size slider and it didn´t help me the least bit :-) I´m doing some recordings with a band and it is very uncool when this tfing occurs, - like i mentioned earlier, its only when the track is armed that the stuttering happen. Alex |

Are you using an FX on tracks/buses when the stuttering occurs? Windows Version? ASIO for the EMU? How is the EMU configured? The more details about your set up and the project the easier it will be to reproduce. Peter |

Yeah I usually route the track to a bus with FX. Tried with no routing to busses and it seems like it doesn´t happen as often anymore. Windows XP sp2 fully updated. The emu is also fully updated running 24 bit 44.1 I make multi-track projects with Audio, MIDI and fx + softsynths. I usually end up around 50 tracks (never been an issue though). As I mentioned before... Its only when track arm is active the stutter occurs. Alex Message last edited on5/23/2007 1:56:56 PM byMartian. |

More details on the EMU.... ASIO? Wave Classic drivers? How is your EMU patch/mixer utility configured? Peter |

My patchmix is set to 20 ms in acid. otherwise there isn´t much to set up. As I wrote before it is only in the track armed mode that the stutter happens. I can stop the projekt ,un-arm the track, press play and the stutter is gone. Normally I un-arm the track, press the patchmix window (all the media in acid goes offline), then I go back to acid, arm the track, and try again. 50 procent of the times this is the solution. The other half is fixed by coinsidence. Message last edited on6/7/2007 4:21:09 AM byMartian. |

I think I finally found out what´s causing the stuttering :-) I haven´t tested much but it seems to be the thiing that does the trick: I tried unmarking the field in preferences that leaves audio offline when acid is not the active application. This obviously conflicts with ASIO somehow. One for you SONY. Alex |

Thisi s actually a known issue with the EMU drivers. I will ping EMU to see what is up and have another look see. Sorry I didn't associate the problem sooner. Peter |
