In previous versions, when doing a fade on, say audience applause, I've moved the Region marker as close to the end of the fade as possible. The new markers seem to snap to that point which is wonderful. However, I wonder if they really do?

I've had several instances where, in listening, there is a blip at the end of the fade and, after zooming in, I see the marker is just a hair into the next waveform. It appears that it may be snapping to the next zero crossing point instead of the end of the fade. But I can't say it happens every time.

Perhaps it's the end of the fade that should snap to a zero crossing point and isn't? Then the marker would align consistently.

Sony, what's the best procedure here?

I'm not on my studio coputer here - but afaik the markers snap to zero by default.

Also, they snap to markers themelves, what I found very annoying and where I could not find any possibility to switch off. Makes it quiet impossible to fine-adjust a marker - it always snaps to its original position when moving near to it. What a crap!

But maybe I was too stupid to find the relating option - is there any option to turn off _all_ snapping? If not so, it would be very fine to see one in a future update...

Options->Enable Snapping (F8).

As for the other behavior, marker/regions do not snap when they are dropped. They drop at the cursor/selection boundaries.

Selection and marker/region dragging snaps according to the snapping behaviors enabled in the Options menu. It is a soft snap, so it snaps only as you approach one of the snap-able positions.

You can still use the dedicated "hard-snap" commands (Edit->Selection->Snap to Grid, etc.), regardless of whether soft snapping is enabled.

Thanks J. Good clear explanation.

My bad, J., shame on me, and thanks a lot! Really didn't know that and always searched in the preferences instead in option menu (or help...). F8 was previeously drag&drop snapping...

Tonight I again encountered the blip after setting a marker. I don't have a handle on it yet but I found that moving a marker caused another marker to move by a like amount. For example: I set a marker at the end of a fade, went to the next region and after fading in to the next region set a marker at the beginning of the fade-in. I subsequently moved that marker a slight amount. After dragging both regions over to the playlist to use the pre-roll to check the transition from one region to another I discovered a blip at the end of the first region. I went back to the timeline, discovered the marker had moved beyond the end of the fade and so moved it back to where it should have been. The marker at the beginning of the next region had moved back by the same amount!

I'll continue to try to make sense of the issue.

I've been able to replicate the issue again this morning and indeed, if one region marker is moved others move with it as if they are linked. However, it appears to happen only on temp files. In other words, if you perform some operation on a file and then attempt to set region markers they move in concert.

If you perform some operation and save the file before working with region markers they work as they should. So BEWARE!

I might add that the regions were originally mapped out in Vegas, then rendered and opened in SF9.

Speaking of Vegas, the Izotope mastering plug-ins are available to the master buss - all except the compression plug-in. Is there something unique about that particular plug-in?

Disregard parts of my last post.

I need to modify my last post because I think I understand better what is happening.

I did a global select of all the regions in my region list and copied them over to the playlist. I didn't bother to de-select the region list. When I select any marker on the timeline and move it all the other markers move in concert. So, the region list has to be globally de-selected so that no region is high-lighted. Then the markers behave as they should.
