Subject:Another potential bug?

In my earlier versions, when you would alter a file using reverb, graphic fade, or anything else, the program would remember the last setting used so that if you needed it again you could quickly access the previous settings without having to have saved them. In V 9, the dialogue boxes seem to come up with random settings, meaning they have to be reset each time. This is particularly annoying when working on many spots in the same file requiring the same settings. Is this a bug? Can it be switched back on to recall previous settings or what?
I hate to keep complainig but this program is annoying the heck out of me.

Strange, I have (and hate) this behaviour only with VST Plugins... All others - built-in and directX plugins - work properly... means, they remember and correctly restore last used settings.

I am not seeing this behavior either. KPoling, can you provide some specific steps? (Also, don't feel bad about complaining. It helps everyone in the long run.)

Timo75, the VST preset mechanism is defined by the VST spec and changes to the current bank of programs are only valid for the lifetime of that instance. Storing "last-used" settings is possible, but loading them would mean immediately overwriting an entry in the default bank. Certainly possible, but a divergence from the spec and how other hosts behave.

I am experiencing a similar problem regarding saved presets. If I run a custom saved preset and then modify it without saving it, the next time the effect is run, the modification sticks permanently. For example, if I run a saved preset under Graphic Fade with a three point envelope curve titled Three Point Fade, and then remove one of the points, the next time I run the Three Point Fade preset, it loads the preset with the modification.

Nuts, that's definitely wrong. It will be fixed in the next update.

KPoling, is this what you are seeing or is it something else?

Addendum: This only appears to affect the "graphic" effects with envelope controls, so it's not quite as bad as I initially thought. But it will be resolved in the next update, regardless.

Thanks,
J.

Yes, for sure the graphic effects consistently have this problem. The fade dialogue is the one that causes the most problems for me. The program seems to remember only about half the envelope.

I have experienced this intermittently with the reverb settings, but it has been behaving itself today so I will have to wait until it reoccurs to be more specific.

also to clarify - I am not speaking of saved presets, but just of the program saving the last used setting. Earlier versions always kept whatever was the last used.

I see, thanks for your answer! But what about storing the last-used settings into a database within SoundForge? The vst-bank wouldn't be touched and the vst-plugins would behave consistent to other plugins. Just an idea...

Under SF 8.0, you could type the first character of a saved preset and have the corresponding preset automatically highlighted. It was a handy gimmick I miss under SF 9.0 and would like to see restored.
