Working on the my first project to totally complete in Acid. Since Acid 1.0, I've only used Acid for groove building and then would move everything into Vegas for overdubs, editing and mixing. So today I've been doing some final mix rendering in AP6.0.b and found the renders to be at least 6db less than what the master bus meters are showing. In Vegas, I have always checked "constant volume" in the tracks and the renders are always exactly as they should be but this does not appear to be the case with AP6. I tried checking "0db center" (or whatever its called) on the tracks and although it raised the overall render level, its still about 3db less than it should be. What's up with this? And the bigger question is why isn't this kind of basic process consistent with Vegas and Acid? Frustrating stuff! Thanks! Message last edited on5/12/2007 10:02:54 PM bydrbam. |

I'm not sure why your renders would be any lower than what the ACID meters indicate. I would definitely update to ACID Pro 6.0d (build 363) which is the latest version of ACID. You are two versions behind and may be experiencing a defect that has already been fixed. ~jr |

Thanks jr. After reading your reply I closely reviewed the update fixes from 6.0b thru c and nothing even remotely speaks to what I'm experiencing. 99% of the fixes are related to midi, VSTi's, VST plugs and 5.1. I'm not using any of these in this project (preferring hardware efx with a couple of Waves R plugs and Sony track eq and a some Wave Hammer on a percussion track). The point being is that I doubt that AP6 could be set up any leaner than the way I use it. That being said, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to update to 6.0d but I'm in the middle of mixing this project and don't relish the thought of having to do the extra MS download crap that 6.0d requires at this time. Anyway, it'd be nice to also have Peter comment on this issue. |

I had this prolem also. Acid defalts to -6 Db when you put a file in regardless of the original trk level. Frog |

Yes, I'm aware of the -6db default on the track volume but I'm referring to the render itself resulting in at least 6db lower than what the meters are showing and what I'm hearing. I can clearly see it on the rendered file as well and I've checked the file in Sound Forge to confirm. |

Like JohnnyRoy, I'm puzzled as to why the render from ACID does not equal what the Master bus indicates during playback. They should be the same. Iacobus |

"Like JohnnyRoy, I'm puzzled as to why the render from ACID does not equal what the Master bus indicates during playback. They should be the same." I'm puzzled as well. I am now working with 6.0d and will try to render the final mix that got this started later today (hopefully). It will be interesting to see if the update provided a fix and if so, what was defective in 6.0b that would cause such weirdness. Anyway, I'll post the outcome here when I've had a chance to check it out. I've moved on to another song and need to stay focused on that for the time being. Thanks! EDIT: Correction: I was using AP6.0a - not 6.0b. Sorry for the confusion. See my more current thread about where this little trip has gone! Arrrrrggghhh!
