My pc hasn't been right since I installed SF9. First, one of my vst synths stopped working in Live 6. So I uninstalled SF9, because the problem started when I first installed SF9. Now that I have that figured out, I re-installed SF9, and it crashes or closes as soon as I try to open a .wav file or mp3 into it.

It sounds like it needs an update to me.

SF9 does not have any relationship with VSTIs. It sounds more like you have something else flaky in your system, as this does not appear to be typical behaviour for SF9. Have you got latest soundcard drivers ?

I went back to SF8, which works fine. SF9 crashes the minute that I try to play any file (mp3, or .wav).

Try uninstalling SF9, deleting the folder ....program files/sony setup/Sound Forge 9.0 , then reinstalling SF9 to ensure a clean install. Do you have Norton Utilities WinDoctor by any chance ? If so run that first to clean out the crud and (hopefully) identify and fix os anomalies.

If still crook then submit the error report to SoSoFoSCSI along with your os/hardware details.

Done.

As I said, SF8 is working fine as well as all of my other software. I uninstalled SF9. I'll wait a while to reinstall it. Maybe when I get the chance, I'll call tech support and try to iron out the problems.

Are you using the mLan ASIO drivers?

We are looking into a problem related to the mLan ASIO drivers.

Yes. Yamaha Mlan uses ASIO drivers.

I thought that maybe an update was in order.

Once again, SF8 works perfectly.

Bump.

Any new word on mlan ASIO driver compatability?

I haven't upgraded to SF9 yet. I use a Yamaha 01X (mLan) - should I hold off until this issue is fixed? Is there a work-around?

Have you tried the demo? Does it cause you problems?
