Why doesn't Vegas recognize this audio format? I have the codec installed - and as usual, every other program on my computer that works with video handles it fine. Every other program except SONY Sound Forge that is.

Even though it is an audio stream, does it have something to do with the Video For Windows vs. DirectShow problem? Is there any hack or tweak to fix it like fixing video in abcAVI Tag Editor?

I again delve into my awesome knowledge of computers in general and Vegas in particular: it's another Vegas bug. Use a program that does recognize the audio file and use that to re-render it into something Vegas can see. Shamefully inelegant but if it works...?

I am certain that God knows the answer to this troubling question, but since you will probably be around for quite a few more years...why not put it off until you get the diagnosis of inoperable cancer? The prospect of finally getting to know the answer may brighten up your last days even better than the morphine.
