Subject:External Monitor? HELP

Can anyone help me with an external monitor for Acid Pro 6 or indeed Vegas? ( I may post this in the Vegas Forum too)

I thought that previewing the small video preview on another screen meant buying another 17" Computer monitor, but can i do this or can i use a standard television?

I have both Acid and Vegas and like the idea of a seperate screen.

Now can i :

1. Use a 2nd CRT or TFT Computer screen and use the two screen set up on my laptop to get just the video preview on another screen (woudl this work?)

OR

2. Use my 1394 camcorder and S-Video to use a TV screen? Im not sure any of my TV screens have S-video sockets but maybe i could try a work-around with my VHS video (from the camcorder) and a TV screen?

OR

3. Can I use a TV out on the back of my laptop as a simple way to power a TV screen (would this work with a 17" monitor or just TV's?)

Am I on the right lines?

External monitor works only via FireWire only, so option 2 will work.

FireWire > Camcorder > TV

Make sure you go to Options > Preferences > Video to get your FireWire controller ready.

Thanks - have tried this but no joy - have 1394 DV cam, from PC and a TV but not sure on the connections from DV to TV?

I have got S-video socket on the DV but think its going "in not out?

So can get DV screen to display the Acid Video preview, but its very jumpy?

how come Vegas has more options on this? at least i would have thought Acid could have had the option of a 2nd PC monitor option as in Vegas does?

Mmm...might want to check to see if that socket on the cam is indeed an output.

Try futzing with the settings under the Video tab.

Vegas has more video preview options because, well, it's Vegas. ;o)
