Subject:where is piano roll editor?

I have never used ACID Pro 6 for MIDI and Im not starting out too well.
I accessed the HELP files to find out where the piano roll is. I dont want to use inline editing because then the track heights are too big. The Help file says that the PIANO ROLL is an OPT plugin. It also says the same about the LIST EDITOR.
I assumed I could click on the track and get taken in to the piano roll or access it via track properties, but it's not anywhere to be seen.

Without the piano roll I cant use AP6 as I do all of my composing in MIDI and then render to audio after editing.

PLEASE tell me the MIDI capability is limited to inline editing...

Checked the HELP file again and it says I should have a tab in the VIEW/TRACK PROPERTIES called PIANO ROLL EDITOR. I only have three tabs - output settings, input filters, and clip pool

where are the PIANO ROLL EDITOR and LIST EDITOR tabs?

A new concept to ACID Pro 6 is something called clips. (It used to be called events, which is still generally accepted.) A clip is a particular instance of playback on the timeline.

Draw or paint a clip on the timeline, then right-click the clip and select, "Clip Properties." (Natch.) Voila! Instant Piano Roll/List Editors! :)

ok...so now I have my piano roll editor...I cut some MIDI data from one MIDI track and paste it into a new MIDI track in the PR Editor for the new track. The data appears in the PR editor, but I dont see it in the clip on the timeline...when I playback the piece, the new MIDI data is missing

The help files are wrong. Sorry. We will address this.

Please refer to the ACID Manual for the correct procedures.

ohmaya--

It sounds as if your ACID Pro installation is just displaying the incorrect help file.

Have you had both ACID Music Studio and ACID Pro installed concurrently? In that situation, the ACID Music Studio help can overwrite the correct ACID Pro version.

Uninstalling and reinstalling ACID Pro will restore the proper help file, or I can send you a help file that you can use to overwrite the erroneous version.

Sorry for the confusion,
-Kevin

I have never owned Music Studio so would LOVE an updated help file. I bought the upgrade to Acid Pro 6 at Guitar Center so I dont know what happened - maybe my old 5.0 version?
Thanks!
