My friggin power went out outta nowhere. BANG! I have F O U R files related to the project, none of which is any use! 1) The file 2) The file's usual backup (Which, when I try to open it, it tells me is not found) 3) the Autosave 4) The "restored" file ALL of these are giving me errors. An error occurred while loading project. THis file cannot be opened byt he installed version (I have 6D), or the file my be corrupt. Download and install the latest version of ACID Pro. This really ticks me off, as I'd saved this file a hundred times along the way. What is the point of having all these backups if something as common as a power cut renders them all useless?!! Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Rick |

The file may be corrupt as it was not saved properly. Do other projects open OK? The lesson here is: An uninterruptible power supply is your friend. ;o) I can't tell you how many times my UPS has saved my butt. Iacobus |

Yes. All my other projects are fine, however, as I point out, why on earth would no less than four ACD files related to this project be hosed? Wouldn't it make sense to have an autosave that backs up the ACD file every, whatever, 20 minutes? Surely that can't be much of a resource drain, given that the ACD files are so small. What is the second ACD file that's generated for every project for if it can't handle this? The file size of my corrupted ACD file is 266K. It would seem that most, if not all the data are there. I created a support request and sent it to Sony. Do they repair them and return them? Thx, Rick |

You probably already did this, but just in case ... Did you rename the back up files before trying to open them? They're saved as XXX.acd-bak and the "-bak" needs deleting so they'll open. I just thought it was odd that files not open at the time of your power failure were affected in any way .... Message last edited on4/10/2007 1:43:46 AM byPeterWright. |

Peter, Thanks for responding. No, I hadn't renamed them prior to opening. I'll try it tonight and post the results. -Rick |

No matter how I try to rename the file, in windows properties, it still shows an .acd-bak extension. I doubt that's gonna fix it though, it's giving me the same error as the others. One of the files has this error message: Error: 0X8004e0b0 (message missing) Any thoughts? Thanks, Rick |

If I recall, that "message missing" error is not good; it basically meant that the project was hosed. Iacobus |

If you still have the original .acd file sitting there, you won't be able to change the name of the back up without also changing something in the first part of the name. e.g. I have two files; Joy.acd and Joy.acd-bak If I try and change the second file to the same name as the first, I get an error message saying that there is already a file with this name. BUT, if I rename Joy.acd-bak to JoyBU.acd, no problem, and the renamed file opens up as a normal Acid project. Hope this helps ... |
