My new edition of Mix Mag has a spiffy (if non specific) ad for SF9.

So I ran to the window and threw open the sash............. to find DIDDLY about SF9 on the web site.

More vague indifference from Sony Media
.............how uninspiring.........how de-motivating......how familiar.

I mean hey, I'm a total fish.....I'll buy even it if it's broke for the first 90 days but throw me Frickin' bone here.

Yeah, I heard that it has multi tracks now.

How exciting, SF now has a feature that Wavelab and Audition have had for several years alreeady.

Yipee!

Gee, I wonder if there is finally an equal power crossfade. Or "real" DC offset fixing.

I won't be holding my breath.

Sigh.

At the bottom of the ad is this link: sony.com/soundforge9
At this time this link subs to Soundforge 8. I'm thinking at some point this will change.
Magazine ads have to be submitted 90 days prepublication (usually) so there may be some delay.....or not

In the Mix ad it also states: "Mastering Effects Bungle powered by iZtope" Who knows what that's gonna be, I hope not another version Wave Hammer aka, "Mud Hammer" The link; Sony.com/soundforge9 comes up with nothing on SF-9. Could be just vaporware at this point, or half-baked software loaded with bugs. I guess we will find out at NAB.

"Mastering Effects Bungle powered by iZtope"...

Any "bundle" that they do with izotope is awesome. I own all of their windows products and swear by them.

Check them out here...

I have used and am well aware of iZotope plugs, My point is, SMS may have mucked them up cause they work good.
I prefer Waves and Ultrafunk. Maybe I 'm just used to them.

It's probably just a rebranded clone of the multiband compressor that iZotope did for Audition.

The mood here is kind of bloody. It's been 2 days since my initial post and something is missing.

What's missing is the cheerful web boffin promising us sweetness and light while offering a few details and some iffy release date.

That means the message board is on but nobody is home!

This is exactly the level of interest and support I've grown used to.

Just installed it a few minutes ago. I loaded a wav file and went to do a crossfade and it locked right up on me.

Loaded up a wav for second time. Made sure that the wav was set to a sustaining loop and then tried to do a crossfade again.

Still no equal power crossfades.

Gee... what a surprise.

Boy! Tough crowd here!

I really like the additional effects, the noise reduction and the isotope package. But what do I know, I still use wave hammer and acoustic mirror!

Izotope plugs are truly awesome!
Very resource efficient and the GUI's are superb.
I wish they create a drum sequencer for ACID, sort of like IDrum for the macintosh.

You know that these tools still work very well! I use wavehammer everyday, it does a great job!

Not too much use of the acoustic mirror, except for sound effects.

JPV...

Are you using the most up to date version? On the update download page you can get SF9.0a build 297 as of right now fyi.

Any problems you guys run into PLEASE be as specific as possible describing how to repro your error/crash/lockup. This way we'll have a great build to work with sooner than later.
