I notice there are demos mentioned for Logic, Cubase & Pro Tools.

Funny, I could have sworn that Sony had a DAW program too ......

They mentioned they're VST but don't mention what platform they run on. Seeing all the programs they mentioned are MAC programs (Cubase, ProTools, and Logic) then how do we know they're actually making PC version?

LOL!!! They do have a DAW program, it's just that nobody at the other Sony divisions know about it because it's just shows up as tax deduction to them.

Read closer: VST isn't available yet - AU is. AU is Mac only, hence the platform limitation. When VST is available, I imagine we'll see a PC and Mac version then. Time will tell.

Okay,so how do these Oxford plugs compare to Waves and the "status quo" plugs. I have been looking for a while to upgrade my plugs and I have test driven Waves,Yamaha,Wave Arts, and a bunch of other freebies and I have not been too impressed yet. I have heard the Oxford stuff talked about FOREVER and I was just curious as to any one's personal comparative experience. Also, I see that you gotta have an iLok even to test drive and I am not crazy about another thing sticking out of my "puter".

Not yet for PC -- until you employ it inside of Pro-Tools as an RTAS pluggin.

Or inside the TC power core unit.

These really should be a part of Sony Media Software.

Yes, they are available for PC native VST. You can download the 14 day demo, but you will need an iLok and and iLok account.

Very painless and they work well inside of our stuff. This is cool since the Sony Oxford group is a third party as say NI or any other plugin vendor.

The sony oxford plugins are very high quality. Some even say that they surpass the uad plugins in quality. With that in mind how do you expect them to recoup there r&d loss through "giving it away" with say a "upgrade" of acid?

Also The sony branch that makes the audio plugins are NOT affiliated with the branch that makes the host software.

That being said it would benefit both companies if with the next version of acid any "new" purchasers of acid 7 AND those who are "upgrading" to version 7 get a nice discount on the vst pluggins.

Mind you that to get ALL the plugins would normally cost over $1000 so make sure to start start returning all your "cans and bottles" pronto.

I don't understand what you expect?

You want them free when you license ACID?

The Oxford plugin sets cost more that ACID.

They are Sony OXFORD plugins, not Sony Madison Media Software plugins. We are two different companies.

Hi Peter,

On my recently purchased Vaio Laptop it includes SonicStage Mastering Studio, which includes 4 Oxford Plug-ins (EQ, Inflator, Restorer & Multichannel 5 band EQ).

I'm not sure what the iLok you referred to is, but is there any way these plug-ins can be used in Acid, or would I be better advised to learn the SonicStage software and maybe (?) use it for mastering after mixing down from Acid?

Not free, obviously. And me, I'm just pleased they finally work together. But beyond that, maybe some package deal would be cool. Or maybe integrate lite versions of the Oxford plugs, with an upgrade path. You ARE both Sony, after all.

I work for a right hand / left hand company too, albeit quite a bit smaller than Sony. And we've had the emphasis shift a number of times over the past decade - first each focusing on our own line, then a big change so we're coordinating between the two sides of the house, then back to independence again.

But our customers DO complain when the coordination isn't there - "why, when I'm already buying services from you, is it like pulling teeth to get someone to demo your product for us?"

And that was BEFORE we moved client development to Gdansk, LOL...

The commercial Oxford plugins use an iLok for copy protection. I don't have a Vaio laptop, so I don't know how the Oxford plugs work with SonicStage. Can you use them in other hosts besides SonicStage?

If SonicStage provides you the features/tools to do you mastering, then by all means, use it to master your projects. (ACID is NOT a really good mastering tool anyways.)
