Can ACID pull the drums out of a wav or mp3 file? I'm writing a song and would like to experiment with an existing groove to see if it basically works with my composition, vs. having to recreate it in ACID.

Thx,

Rick

Nothing can pull the drums, or the vocals, or anything else, out of a premixed audio file.

There are several other approaches, such as the one you mentioned, recreating in Acid using midi, or using pre-recorded drum loops - there are many out there, some free, some not.

If you're just talking about a particular groove, that can just be one bar, and it can be a good experience to build it up bit by bit. You can have the "existing groove" sitting there on the Acid timeline to listen to whilst you copy/recreate it.
