Subject:Warbled sound when recording (Beatmapped)

I have noticed something strange which doesn't always occur. I record audio (electric bass) in loop mode using the "Beatmapped" setting. When I play back the recorded clips the sound is ugly and warbled! If I change the clip properties to "One Shot" the sound is nice and clean. It seems that for some reason Acid's stretch engine is activated even if the tempo is unchanged!! Shouldn't stretch be totally defeated/transparent when the tempo/pitch are equal?? This doesn't always occur but it has made me very scared since I have made a lot of recordings with Acid 6. The warbling is easily audible on electric bass recordings but more subtle on vocal. This was a bug that was fixed. Are you using 6b? I think it was fixed in 6a. |

I have version 6.0b (build 305), so it's not entirely fixed ,even if it works most of the time. |

Now I am running 6.0d and yesterday, when I was recording some basslines, I realized that this problem is still there!! I cannot understand why the stretching function is NOT DEFEATED when when you are recording and playing back in exactly the SAME TEMPO!! I can provide you with a small example (mp3 or acid-zip) if you want to listen for yourselves. I actually like recording in beatmapped since it allows you to record (and select) multiple clips using loop recording. Therefore I don't think the answer "switch to one-shot" given in other threads is a good answer.) Could Sony please fix this!? |

Am I alone with this problem? |

I only had that problem in the first version of 6.0, I'm now using 6.0b and getting excellent results. I tried the later updates and found more problems than fixes so I've decided to stay with version b. I know this is a dumb question, but in the clip properties, do you have "preserve pitch when stretching" checked? |

Yes, I have the same problem when I record my piano loops/samples. However, it does it sporatically. One track will be fine, the next will be warbled. I did the upgrades and like you, it's still a problem. I replaced all my inputs, as I thought it was the in/out line, but it's still doing it. Checked my soundcard settings, checked recording settings but I'm at a loss at where else to look. I think it's a glitch in the program myself and the upgrade only applies to certain media/inputs. That, or Acid doesn't like my old Yamaha. I should also note that it only applies to my Yamaha CLP-840 piano, and not my EX-7 synthesizer, therefore it could be a conflict there. (yes, my stuff is old, but it still sounds sweet to me.) lol weird how it does it randomly. |

I hear the warbling very clearly when I record electric bass. Since Acids stretch algorithm handles other sounds better the bug is more subtle on e.g. vocals. Can Acid please respond. Have you recognized this problem? Will it be fixed? Bjorn |
