Subject:extract region to file truncates name

I have spotted and named 468 regions in a two hour wav file.
Tools:extract regions with "Use long file names for destination file names" checked and a short File name prefix
gives me files where the name in the Regions list which should have been used is truncated. Example:
S_Man_ is the prefix
region name - Sawbone bangs SM on bars dropping SM to mat Wrestling
results - S_Man_Sawbone bang.wav
The help file states:
Select the Use long file names for destination file names check box to allow file names of up to 128 characters including spaces. The files names will consist of the value in the File name prefix box and the region name.
But this is not happening. Am I missing something
