I've been noticing recently that every so often, when I record (especially acoustic-electric stuff), I'm getting these mili-seconds of digital distortion. I don't know how, becuase I've been monitoring the meters and everything is always rendered below 0 (-5, or so). I can usually mask it with a smooth enhance of about -2, however, it sometimes still noticeable. Is there something I can throw down to take this away? Or am I recording at a high volume (to much going in?). Whe I record, my levels are normally -10 (just in the yellow). Could be my guitar as well, but don't know. Anyone have an idea would be really appreciated. Thank you Bryant |

If you are not going over "0" then it is likely the noise in in your source. Can you post a segment somewhere ? geoff |

Listen carefully to the parts of the song that ring in at: (0:13) (0:34). The distortion lasts about a mili-second, but I have no idea why it's showing up. Here is the link: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=574679&t=1325 Go to the song: "Tears In Heaven" Thank you for you help! Bryant |

I think I can see/hear the bits you mean. They seems to be pops in the recorded signal. Certainly not 'digital distorion' in the overload sense. What is the recording chain - there seem to be chorus (box ?) and all sorts in there... And there seems to be a huge timing/synch problem between L and R that increases towards the end. geoff Message last edited on3/12/2007 5:37:40 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Just Sony Chorus, Sony Reverb over a dry acoustic guitar. I used the Wavehammer at the end of the signal to raise some of the volume. Those three plugins were all I used. Could this be the result of my audio card driver? I'm using the Lexicon Lambda, and I heard there drivers tend to pop and click once in a while. Thanks for you response by the way. Really appreciated! |

Indeed, it is probably a driver or cpu issue. Try the asio4all drivers at asio4all.com and see if they help. |

Will do! Now when I setup my audio driver prior to recording, I just select the ASIO4ALL driver? Can I still use my Lamda soundcard? Thanks for your response! Bryant |
