OK, All I wanna do is record vocals over a MP3 beat I made from FL Studio. Once I playback the vocals that i recorded, its slightly out of sync. Now,I have Sound Blaster Live and from what I read around here on the forums that this might be the problem. If this is true, which sound card should i purchase,or is this even the problem? Please Help me if you could, i'm goin insane Andy |

Hi Andy, Your soundcard isn't ideal, but you can still work with it. You need to adjust the latency setting of the card: go to Options>Preferences>Audio Device. It can be a game to set it right. One way I discovered was to lay down a click track for about 8 measures or so, then record a vocal of you keeping time with it (1,2,3,4,). Use the visuals of the wave file (and the project timeline) to roughly establish how long the delay is in ms. Then adjust the card setting and repeat till dead-on. Once you do get it, I would reco writing down so that you know what it is if you need to reinstall. Cheers, RP |

How far out of sync is the vocal with the original material? Make sure you are using the ASIO drivers with the SB. This should provide you accurate input and output sync. Also, work with the lowest buffer settings you can with the ASIO driver. If you are using the wave classic drivers, then you can adjust the record offsets from the audio device prefs page. Use ASIO if you can. Peter |
