We don't officially support Vista with any of our existing products. However, many users are reporting success when running ACID in compatability mode. Peter |

Just about every useful program I know of does not work in Vista, except in compatability mode. Flash is a mess in Vista, and other apps just won't even load. My advice would be: You should be leery of installing Vista until all the bugs and incompatibilities are worked out. Is there any reason you're in a hurry to install Vista? I'm waiting minimum 6 months, more likely a year. |

Why Not! I bought the software just prior to release. Will Sony eventually catch up so we can utilize vista and Acid Studio |

Acid 6 works fairly well in vista for me - except for media manager, and the on-the-spot help system (you know, those little question mark things - not the encylopedic "Main Help"). All of my cheapo vst's (i.e, the free ones) work fine. I never used media manager - but if I really need to find a file, the vista indexing/search functions are swift & accurate. It's also noticeably faster than xp - IF you have a dual processor. |

Our software was released well before Vista was. Our sofware was released with specific hardware and OS requirements. >>Will Sony eventually catch up so we can utilize vista and Acid Studio Yes. Vista support will most likely be made with new version releases and not as an update to the current version. Peter Message last edited on2/25/2007 11:35:04 AM bypwppch. |

Since you had a computer before why don't you just install XP in a "partition" and have it be a "dual boot". ie: XP and vista on the same HD. This way you can have the best of both worlds till sony AND microsoft work out the kinks. If I had to upgrade my computer now thats what I would do. Hell my soundcard last I checked doesn't even have drivers for vista yet...presonus firebox. I won't be upgrading the OS/computer at least till vista service pack one comes out. Ed. |

I said "most likely", not absolutely. You should contact our customer support. They may be able to help you with your problem. I cannot resolve this for you. Peter |

Really - don't ever make the critical mistake of equating SonyPCH with Sony itself!!! It's a cold & corporate world out there - getting direct access to an engineer is a miracle (especially given that it's within this company). Considering you can't get Cust Support to tell you anything that's not already well-known here it's actually very useful to be forewarned! Now Peter, tell me about the scripting in ACID7!! ;o) Message last edited on2/26/2007 2:55:50 PM bydrew_. |

thank you for that invaluable info I will not go down that path unless abolutely necessary, thank you sincerely again Drew But remember Drew anyone with the Sony insignia as a nickname should expect and be expected to deal with these kinds of issues without retribution of ANY sort to the customer. the query AND the concern is warranted and justified |

>>anyone with the Sony insignia as a nickname should expect and be expected to deal with these kinds of issues<< Nope. I don't expect to deal with these kinds issues. Not my area. I am an engineer. FWIW: I hang out here to answer tech questions and help resolve/identify user problems/bugs. Helps me do my job of building a better product. You have a tech question or a bug, I will do everything I can - as will many of the other users here. You want your money back or something for free, you will need to contact Customer Support. > anyone with the Sony insignia as a nickname should expect and be expected to deal with these kinds of issues It is also important to point out that these are "peer supported" forums. That means it's here for us to help "each other" but not an "official" Sony support channel. The fact that Sony employees hang out in the ACID forum is a testament to their personal dedication to the product and to their customers. Other companies peer supported forums have no involvement from the employees so we are really lucky here. Customer Support is the "official" support channel. > I boought a new computer and it is on the system already Then you should complain to the manufacturer that the computer they sold you doesn't work with any of your software and you want them to replace Vista with Windows XP. Computer manufacturers need to be responsive to their customers and need to know that they are selling useless door stops that won't run existing applications. I would complain very loudly and demand a copy of Windows XP or return the computer. Then go to a small manufacturer like ABS Computers and buy a computer with XP on it. They still sell XP on their 3D workstation systems. If you see one you like but it has Vista on it, just call them and tell them you want XP instead. You should not have to buy an OS that you don't want. > I bought the program sixty days ago and you are telling me you won't update it FOR VISTA THAT IS INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING No. What is INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING is that Microsoft built a new operating system that is INCOMPATIBLE with ever application everyone owns. You should be yelling at MICROSOFT for incompatibility issues not Sony. Every software company in the world can't magically interrupt their business plans to fix their product because Microsoft decided to drop the Vista bomb and break everything. I would not touch Vista for at least another year if ever. I'd rather move to Linux than use Vista. ~jr Message last edited on3/2/2007 4:15:25 AM byJohnnyRoy. |

YEP, it IS a technical issue You may not be a software engineer but utilizing an operating system for software IS a technical issue It isn't an artistic issue is it? don't worry as you may have inferred I am not out for free stuff I just wanted to start using the sofware you hold so dear to your heart |

I am not yelling, I did not know he wasn't involved with software HOW COULD I? I Just want to use the software and it is not the money I just want to use the software, when I said incredibly diappointing it was in terms of sony not even trying to deal with vista which was suggested and if that's the case Johnny then they BOTH can share responsibility If people are taking offense then I apologize BUT no one tells you that it is an informal forum, there is no details on any of it ,so using this forum is the only way I am told to get answers It was stated using customer support could be perilous Well I am not here for drama or ideology or anything else Take Care |
