Subject:Deleting Files without Constant Errors?

I try to delete lousy files along the way. To do it, I Right click on the clip choose Clip Properties Look for file name delete it on my hard drive. Then EVERY subsequent time I open ACID, it nags me for deleted files and there's no way to tell it to stop. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Rick |

If those are the exact steps you are taking, when are you deleting the file from the ACID project? You should probably remove it from the project before deleting it from the hard drive. This way ACID knows you don't need it in the project anymore. ~jr |

If I delete the bugger from the project and get distracted, how will I ever know what the heck the file name was?! It seemed safer to get the name and delete it from my hard drive. Is there no way to tell ACID ONCE that it's ok and have it stop bugging me on every project load? Thanks, Rick |

What if I have a track (now that we're in the multitrack workstation paradigm) that has many recordings on it and I want to remove one? :-) |

ACID will handle this for you... - Open the Track Properties | Clip Pool for the track. - Locate the clip/file that you want to delete - Right Click on the clip and select "Remove from Project and Delete File(s)" You will get nagged a bit depending on how the file is used in the project, but the end result is to - Remove the file from the project - Delete the file from your harddrive Note that even if the clip/file is not currently used on the track, it will still appear in the Track Properties Clip Pool. You will see a use count of 0 (zero). You can preview and delete (or simply remove) from the Clip Pool as well. Peter Message last edited on1/27/2007 3:31:41 PM bypwppch. |

OK. I deleted the track, then got rid of the file on my hard drive and now ACID is bugging me for the file? wtf? How can I permanently stop the nagging? Rick |

Look at Peter's "note". Even if the file is no longer used on the timeline it's still recognized by ACID as part of your project. You need to delete it from the clip media pool too. As Peter pointed out, ACID has a built in function that both delete's the file and tells ACID not to look for it anymore. |
