I'm running a MOTU 828 (Mk1) with Acid Pro 5 and VSTis and I'd like to purchase a new PC. Any thoughts on this package?

I currently have an ASUS P3 733mhz 512ram with Win2k. Very slow (and old). My system is marginally functional, though it gets me by. I'm largely a hobbyist, but I'd like to step it up a bit as I'm trying to take on more professional work. I'd like to spend about $600, which I know is laughably low, but that's why I'm going after this box.

Anybody have any experience with these machines? How would AP6 would run on this box, as I'd like to upgrade Acid too! Or any thoughts on a comparable system for the price?

Thanks!

Pat

Because I'm too lazy to look right now ( ;o) ), what's the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ run at? (I hate how they don't inform you of the processor speed anymore.)

Everything else looks good though. You're definitely bound to feel a performance difference between your old system and that system.

I'd also personally spring for a drive dedicated solely for media. (You could cannibalize your old system's drive and use that as a system drive.)

Not too sure.....turns out my link up there is bad anyways....oh well.

Yeah, I'm planning on yankin' one of my other drives out of my current box to use in the new one (if I get it.....depends on a current job bid coming through). I thought I'd use the Seagate for all of my media storage, and using one of my older (and smaller) drives for Program Files.

Any thoughts on a solid soundcard that would run well with this box? My softsynths don't take too well to the SoundBlaster Platinum in my current rig!

Thanks,

Pat

You might want to look at 2 gig of ram. Just a thought.

Yes, another gig of ram and a separate OS drive (dedicate the Seagate you listed with the system as a data drive) would significantly improve this system.
