I have an external audio interface that is properly detected by AP5, but it does not appear in AP6d. I use this interface, the Steinberg MI4 for all of my external audio inputs and output to my monitors, so it is important to me that AP6d detect it and allow me to select it as my device. I only get two inputs without the ASIO driver and I need all 4!
Why would one version detect it and the other not see it?
Anything I should be looking at?

I restarted my PC and restarted AP6d, and I defintiely see AP6d adding the ASIO driver for the MI4 interface on the splash screen, but when I go to preferences, it is not there to choose under Aduio Devices.

Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling 6.0d?

OK...I uninstalled and reinstalled 6.0d. I unstalled and reinstalled again. no good.
I even uninstalled/reinstalled back to 6.0 and still no good.

Do I need to completely uninstall 5.0? I cant imagine 5.0 would prevent 6.0 from seeing the ASIO driver for the MI4 audi interface, as I have check the preferences in 5.0 and it is set to release the ASIO ports when 5.0 is not the active application.

AP 5.0 sees the ASIO, FL Studio sees the ASIO, Cubase SL3 sees the ASIO. AP6 does not - version 6.0 and 6.0d
????
Now what?

I can't see why ACID 6 would not see it if ACID 5 does.

Could you check something for me:

In regedit.exe, locate

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

With in here there will be a list of device. Locate the MI4 and let me know what the

CLSID

entry is.

MAN!!! Im going on 12 hours and I still cant get an answer to this?

How many times can I uninstall and reinstall AP6? - it doesn't work. It still doesnt see my ASIO device, which renders the program useless for me!!!
It works in Acid Pro version 5, FL Studio, and Cubase SL3. It cant be the driver or the hardware if it works in 3 other programs - including version 5 of Acid Pro.

PS...Sound Forge AND Abelton Live also see the MI4 ASIO device. so the Score is:
5 applications see the ASIO driver, 1 doesn't - AP6

Will I never be able to use AP6 with this audio interface? Calling Steinberg to see if they are aware of any known issues with your software.

Looking in the registry and doing a side by side comparison of the folders for AP5 and AP6, I see that under HKEY- CURRENT USER/Software/Sony Media Software/Acid Pro, there are two folders - AP5 and AP6.

In the AP 5.0 folder, I clearly see the Steinberg listed as a device under 5.0/Metrics/Audio Hardware/Classes/Asio Driver Classes. I DO NOT see the any devices listed under 6.0/Metrics/Audio Hardware/Classes/ASIO Hardware Classes.

Same thing under HKEY-LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Sony Media Software. Under folder 5.0/metrics/audio hardware/classes/ASIO driver class the Steinberg is clearly listed. Under the folder 6.0, there isnt even a floder called METRICS, only lang and license.

So how are the ASIO drivers supposed to load in 6.0 if there is no reference to them in the registry? Can I manually add them to the smae folders i as in the 5.0 folders and force AP6 to load them?

Something definitely is up with your install because I have a "metrics" folder in 6.0 as well as the same folder path as in 5.0.

Just for kicks, did you try uninstalling both versions of ACID, and then installing only ACID Pro 6.0d?

You could try and hack the Registry but be careful; one false move could mean disaster for your data. Be sure you have any essential data backed up before attempting such a thing.

Uninstalling will probably not help.

This is something unique with this driver. It appears that they use a version of the DShow wrapper driver rather than a native driver, but I cannot determine why ACID 5 shows the driver and ACID 6 does not.

With out having the hardware, I just don't know what I can do to help.
