Subject:Audio Quantization Or Tempo Issues?

I have a project where I have to add new musical elements to an existing musical track. Unfortunately, the tempo on the original recording is not solid. I did beat map the element, however as you might expect, the downbeats of the audio do not always match up to the downbeats of the timeline.

Is there a way to quantize the audio. This isn't MIDI, it's a .wav file, so I doubt this will work, but if I don't ask . . . . BTW where is the Quantize button? I can't find it on my Acid Pro 6d.

What I have done in the past is go through the song measure by measure, sometimes beat by beat adjusting the tempo as necessary to have the beats of the existing track match up to the beats of the timeline. Is there a better, easier, less time consuming way to do this?

I'm thinking it should be possible to mark the beginning of each measure, and have Acid calculate the tempo changes or stretch the element appropriately to have the music and the timeline match throughout the entire element.

I could just ignore the fact it doesn't line up, but it is so much easier to work with when it does. Has anyone else dealt with this, and found a good way to deal with it?

Use the 'move cursor to match tempo' option - you have to set the beginning of the measure(s), but otherwise it works well. You could also use the groove tool - it has a quantize option - but that's kinda iffy.

Thanks for the pointer, can you give me more information? What kind of a marker do I want to use? Do I put the marker at the downbeat of the "audio" measure and the cursor at the downbeat of the "timeline" measure, or the other way around. I've tried several different things, but I can't get the downbeats of the audio to match up with the down beats of the timeline. I suspect I'm not quite understanding what you're telling me.
