Subject:Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0 - output volume

I'm using Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0 to record my songs, using two tracks - guitar and voice. THe output volume on these recordings is horrendous. I have to jack up the volume on any CD player to hear the songs I've recorded. Anybody know how to fix this?????????

Record louder?

Or normalize the volume up, but really the best bet is to get a good level from the get-go.

Try and set your audio so that your guitar is somewhere between yellow, while just scrapping the red. You don't want it in the red on a constant basis. Whatever your using to record through (V-Amp2, Amp, Processor), make sure that is giving enough punch to the meters, and than adjust your soundcard volumes as needed. You want to grab a bright and punchy signal, without clipping on your meters. It's all trial and error. Don't worry, took me weeks to get my tone down.
