Two part question about effects. When I record a guitar track I can add effects, but why can't I right click the track and add the pitch shift to it? It will allow me to use it on other tracks, such as drum loops, just not what I record. It's grayed out. 2nd question. Let's say I record one guitar track, but in one section of the track I want an effect like chorus and at the very end I want to add a delay. How would I do that? Thanks. |

Set up a bus or two with the desired effects then at the part you want to have effected adjust the send envelope to the correct bus. |

From the View menu, choose Show Bus Tracks to toggle the display of bus tracks at the bottom of the track view. A bus track exists for each bus, assignable effects chain, and soft synth in your project. You can use bus tracks to automate volume, panning, and effect parameters using envelopes. If a bus track has envelopes applied, its icon will include a fader in the bus track and in the Mixer window. For example, if you wanted to adjust the volume of all tracks in your project, you could apply a volume envelope to the Master bus track instead of adjusting each track individually. There is more info in the manual. Alternatively you could use Sound Forge to highlight the area you want to have the effect on and process it that way. If you don't have sound forge you might be able to do it in Audacity, a free audio editor. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ |

I hope I'm not over complicating something very simple, but I can't seem to get this to work. It either adds the effect to the entire track or the whole project... Maybe I'm explaining what I want to do incorrectly? Lets say the project has 6 tracks. On track 3 is a guitar track recorded with Acid and I want to add a delay or some other effect to one small section of that one track, how would that be done without adding it to the entire track or project? Like I said, I can't seem to get it right, or I just don't know how to isolate the sections to add the effects to. Thanks again. |

> Lets say the project has 6 tracks. On track 3 is a guitar track recorded with Acid and I want to add a delay or some other effect to one small section of that one track, how would that be done without adding it to the entire track or project? You want to use FX automation to control this: 1. Add the FX to the track. Let's say you choose the Simple Delay. 2. Select the settings that you want to get the sound you are looking for and close the FX. 3. Now right-click on the track and select FX Automation Envelopes > FX Automation. 4. Select the Simple Delay and you will see all of the automation parameters. 5. Check the Delay Out and press OK. The envelope that gets inserted now controls the delay out. You can drag it down to zero and add points at the places on the track that you want to turn it up and adjust it accordingly. You can do this for as many FX or FX parameters as you like. This is just like the previous example that uses Buses. You can also do this with Assignable FX (sends). ~jr Message last edited on2/3/2007 12:15:11 PM byJohnnyRoy. |

Perfect, Thanks! That did exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure the other way works fine too, I'll just have to play with it. Thanks to both of you guys for the help! |
