Subject:Syncing ACID & ProTools LE Digi 002

Hi everyone,
Had been promised by the vendor years ago that ProTools and ACID could be synced together... I had ACID 5.0 and was working in the Digi 001 world of OS 9 and that never happened. I'm now in ACID 6.0 and in ProTools LE Digi 002 vs. 7.3.1. Is there any way these two programs can sync together flawlessly without a smpte box? Using Midi beat clock? Any success stories out there.
Help.
Joe

Actually you want to use MIDI Timecode and not MIDI Clock. Go to the settings in Options > Preferences > Sync and adjust the Trigger from MIDI Timecode settings.

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile!

If you are running PTools LE on the PC, then you can connect ACID directly to PTools using ReWire. This will provide the best sync between the two.

If not running PTools on a PC, then you will have to set up PTools to generate MIDI Time Code (MTC) and NOT MIDI Clock. You can then TRIGGER ACID from PTools.

However, note that this is just a start trigger mechanism. It is not a sample accurate lock (MTC is not sample accurate and ACID only 'triggers" and does not chase lock to the MTC master.)

What this means is that if you trigger ACID using MTC, then your PTools rig and the ACID rig must have their audio clocks locked so that the sample rates wont drift. This would involve using the Word Clock output of the 002 as the master to the sound card that you are using on your PC.
