Subject:Sources for Loops?

Beyond Sony Media, what are some good sources of loops for Acid? I am not a pro, so looking for media for my home projects. So cost is an issue. Thanks Greg |

Depends what style of music you want to produce. You can find all sorts of free loops by searching online, but the majority of these are somber, minor-key scratchy noisy hip hop and techno stuff, if that's your thing (it ain't mine). I've found useful libraries from M-Audio ( http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=prosessions ) and particularly Big Fish Audio (bigfishaudio.com). They're all going to be a little bit pricey. To assemble a decent variety of pro loops that are properly Acidized will cost you up to US$1000. Sony actually has the best value and a good variety. If you do a search on this site, I think you'll find a lot of suggestions. Let me make a suggestion that I don't believe I've seen here. www.esoundz.com They have downloadable packs in a variety of formats, including .wav. |

If you've got access to any type of MIDI keyboard or controller, consider a software synth and "rolling your own" loops. I'm not a pro musician either, but I picked up Cakewalk Rapture a few months ago and was surprised how easy it was to build my own loops using the preset programs. The Sequence, Pad, and FX libraries are particularly easy to build loops with but you can do it with any of them. Also it's kind of cool that I can import loops from CD (that I've purchased) and do all kinds of neat and crazy things to them, basically turning them into new sounds. |

make your own loops... FL STUDIO can achieve amazing resuts in any type of genre. Quality loops... You may be very suprised to see what you get from ComputerMusic magazine DVD included with every magazine. |

I really like Hark Loops. They have a great selection and are very high quality at a reasonable price. SmartLoops also has some of the best drums loops and they are very logically organized so that you can mix and match loops perfectly. ~jr |

It's just funny you mention FL. I recently recovered the CD of the first version of Acid I owned (which was Acid Music 1.0, circa 1998-99) and revisited the loops that came with it. If you look at their properties, they come from different sources, but quite a few contain the comment 'made with FruityLoops (98) Didier Dambrin'. FL Studio is an exceptional package (with lifetime upgrades!) I would recommend to anybody. |

peace love productions is great for dance oriented stuff. In fact, they have done several CDs for sony. |
