Great Stuff! Excellent creative usage of chroma and blends - loved it!
Points I would have done:
#1 - You have some places where the camera judders-up/down. Remove them. Just looks darn amateur and spoils what is a neat project.
#2 - The back-end credits take too long to disappear.
#3 - You are holding-on the very beautiful singer, at the end, too long for me.
#4 - IMO the intro, with the spinning Record sleeve lacks relevance to rest of clip. Yes use the Sleeve, but maybe at the end? Use the Butterfly motif as the PUNCH-UP Hook! Use it boldly right at the start.
#5 - The song IS about butterflies. You have a great "Logo" motif of the BF on a flower. IMO you could have made more of this.
#6 - I'm not a great fan of dissolves which dissolve to something just similar. Almost looks like a jump-cut?
#7 - At 55secs you have what looks like interlace jaggies? Sort it out.
#8 - From 42 > 48 you have some "wandering" zoom outs? Yeah? Looks like you were uncertain?
#9 - LOVED the gorgeous section from 1:00 up to 1:28! Smashing .. however, some of the FXs have an abrupt finish. I'm sure you could use a smooth off K/F there? Ah go on with yah!
#10 - Again with the JUMP ups at 1:28. IMO spoils the section just seen?
#11 - More judders at 2:14? Was there a "BOARD" she was tapping her foot on, that transferred to the tripod?
#12 - Appreciated the framing at 2:05! Neat angles used!
#13 - Eh? Colour Correction from 2:38 > 2:39? Get rid!!
#15 - 3:15 WOW! Loved the lighting here! An that HAIR!!!
#16 - 3:39 .. oh my .. really bad horiz judder . .and on the finish too?
You have some GREAT shots. Really you do! With a bit, and it it is only a little bit of adjust, IMO, you could have a real winner!! A simple song, saung simply with simple effects works every time. You have the stuff - just a bit more attention to detail.
Hej Grazie! I really appreciate the time you put into reviewing/critiqing the video. Most of them I was aware of - others I hadn't given much or any thought to. The production needs quite a bit of cleaning up to sumerise - I'm not getting paid for it so it will be in my spare time but it's a fun and eductional experiance! Linda is a very nice person and it's fun to work with her too!
Thanks again! //Garo
Can't disagree with any of what Grazie is saying.
Here's a tip, instead of a zoom use a push.
A dolly is more work and you might need to adjust focus but it just looks that much better.
"I'm not getting paid for it so it will be in my spare time but it's a fun and eductional experiance!
WRONG! - If you AREN'T getting paid for it and show it on that platform we now have, it becomes your CV.
Soooo... you have even MORE reason to be fussy. I do understand your sentiments, but this is a craft and as such - AND I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO TOO! - all your pieces need to be what you want out there.
At present I have stuff out there which needs more work on. I'll admit to that. But as you have taken the time and courage to bring it here, then I would not be correct in at least disagreeing with your comment. AND - IMO - I know you have a superb winning eye too.
Sorry mate! I don't accept your reasoning. AND I have said the same too - Lol!
OK, I want to be able to say to someone here, in the UK, that I have this Scandinavian colleague who makes really beautiful music vids. Go see his latest on U-Tube! - Yeah?
Remember Uncle Vic's comment about - This IS show business - No Business! No Show! - Business doesn't NEED to mean PAID for. It may come, but ALL of what you, we and I do IS somewhere related to this funny ole game and ultimately can lead you/we/I to ££ $$ or whatever.
And yes Linda looks a great artists - she sounds like it! AND your video does her loads of justice.
Grazie! You're absolutly and totally 100% correct in that every project/assignment should be thought of in the same sence of achivemnet. I mearly meant that I am not able to devote my full attention to this particular one at the moment. I had a wedding job last summer that was allowed only a minimal budget. I wasn't happy about that but did a job worth considerably more. It paid off in the long run, as you infered, because friends of the "cheapies" saw it and hired me for a much better, larger project. So I'll be back with the Butterflies video and see it it flyes better next time (pun intended!)
