Hello, I've been an owner of Acid Pro 6 and can never get it to work right with the Proteus X2 VST (it didn't work with Proteus X either). Therefore I am selling my license, if anyone is interested, please contact me.
Thanks

if I were you I'd sell the Proteus instead of Acid Pro.

I bought Proteus X myself on a whim because it was dirt cheap (79 bucks brand new with 3 extra E-mu library CDs).

You know the old saying..."you get what you pay for..."

E-mu's sounds are great but the drivers and interface are horrible. They are very new to software instruments and it doesn't seem like they do much beta testing with real-world users.

I'm thinking of just coverting to E-mu sounds to another sample format.

I don't seem to have any problems with my setup, Acid Pro 6 Emu 0404 and Proteus X. It takes a little time to set up but not impossible.

I know how to set it up. I've set up the same VST's in Cubase and Live with no problem.

I've set up Proteus X2 to output on 10 busses and added those outputs to AP. I can monitor them fine but cannot record them to a track. Whether I try to grab the Master output or a bus output I don't get any audio signal!

Furthermore when I try to record any kind of VST output in AP 6.0, it crashes with the error:

Needless to say, while I find AP's interface nicer and cleaner, it's useless to me if I can't render or record any VST output.

Actually the error above is related to my M-Audio setup. When I switch to another card, I can render the project fine. The remaining issue, however, is that I can't render separate VST tracks. For example, I create a new project with just one VST track (Korg legacy instrument). The VST output goes to the Master bus. Then I create an empty audio track where I want to record the VST. I switch on Record on the new audio track and I play the track, and there is no input into the Audio track. Am I missing something here? The manual doesn't explain clearly... how does one record a VST into an audio track?

OK, this was stupid of me but I just realized that AP doesn't have a way to route VST output directly into an audio track. You have to solo the track and render it, then import the rendered audio into the project.

It's my fault for using "other" software, basically any sequencer in the world lets you do this. Whatever...

it does...

if you set a section of the timeline to loop, then right click the loop bar at the top of the page you'll see "render to a new track".

this will automatically render whatever you have playing and add it your project in one step.

What that does is to render everything into a new track. The desired action would be to allow routing the audio output from a VST track or from a bus into an audio track, and to do this simultaneously for many separate tracks.

For example, this is what I do in Live: set up a multitimbral VST like Linplug RMIV or Proteus X to output to 16 busses. Then I create 16 audio tracks, select as input for each audio track the corresponding bus or VST track, and enable each audio track to record. Then I play the song and each of the 16 audio tracks records the individual track output.

All modern sequencers allow you to do this quite easily. With AP I have to solo the VST track, render it to new track and then repeat this action 15 times. It works but it's a lot more work.

Ahh I see...

I guess I never use VSTi as a multitimbral source so I've never noticed that.

My logic is that if you have enough CPU to run 16 different patches from one VSTi, then you shouldn't have to render till your final mix.

I only use render to free up resources not to because I'd rather deal with audio files vs. MIDI files.

What you're really asking for is bus-to-audio track routing. Where you can choose a particular bus (VSTi output) from the list of physical inputs on a audio track strip.

Not a bad idea...I guess in the case of a drum VSTi it could be useful in case you want to mix the drums later, add reverb or replace a snare...etc.

You should fill out the product suggestion form so it gets on the feature list for Acid Pro 7.

Understand that bus-to-bus routing and audio tracks were just added in AP6 so all of this is brand new to world of Acid.

I ran ino this same problem.

I subbed my KORG M1 and recorded tracks fine.
Before I began subbing the KORG M1, I would record midi only to have nothing show up in the track UNTIL...

I duplicated the track.

Then all midi data shoped up perfectly!
