Yes - just get the right vst, they're usually called 'sidechain compressors'.

I would suggest that do some reading about compressor side-chaining. It will give you a clearer idea of what you are trying to do.

Many times a compressor is side chained to a EQ so that the EQ can trigger when the compressor works. That is generalized... and probably incompete.

Here is a compressor that has side chaining.

But there are many others. The wave compressors should have it.

this one is best, most stable and easy to use sidechain compressor for acid. sadly its not available as vst - ony directx, but it works very good in acid.

The only free one I was able to find. I never liked it. The last one that I found that I liked was the Voxengo one listed above.
