I was wondering to what degree, if any, that .acd files are compatible across different levels of Acid?

More specifically, If I create a straighforward .acd file in Acid Pro, will a friend of mine be able to open the file in Acid Music Studio(which he has yet to purchse, hence the question)?

These files would just consist of a few wav files laid out in a short song for him to jam along with on guitar. I wouldn't add any FX that he might not have on his machine....

Acid projects files are UPWARD compatible. Pro and open Music Studio files but not the other way around. Version 6 can open version 5 files but not the other way around. You can't expect Music Studio to understand the file format of Pro. If you want to collaborate with a friend, you both need the same level/version of ACID. You can save the project as wave files for each track and your friend can add those wave files to the tracks in their project but you cannot share projects.
