I'd love to see it too, but...

...I've been told that these apps are so processor-intensive that only a platform with a dedicated coprocessor, like TC Electronics, could support them.

Of course, a few more Pentium / Athlon upgrades could change everything.

My somewhat educated guess:

They are afraid VSTs will be pirated more easily than the other formats. Believe me, if it was as simple as porting the code, it would already be done. There are other business concerns (over which I have no influence) that prevent us from bundling with Sony Oxford plug-ins.

Perhaps then we should suggest ACID become an even more elegant professional solution with support for other plug formats.

I dunno, is it just me or does Sony seem to think small when it comes to ACID?

What about the Oxford Plugins that come with Vaio laptops?

SonicStage Mastering Studio (the Sony software that the plugins work in) has VST and Direct X support so they must be native, and perhaps even VST and Direct X themselves?

ACID/Vegas support VST and DX. There are no other formats to support for us. AU is Mac only, and RTAS is proprietary to Digi. (Last time I checked, Digi is not licensing RTAS to third party host vendors.)

If a vendor does not support VST or DX, then there is nothing we can do about it.

Sony Oxford supports VST through its TC Powercode partnership. We support this through our standard VST support.

Understand, Sony Oxford is a different division of Sony. We really have nothing to say over how they market or provide their solutions. I would suggest you contact Sony Oxford if you believe they should make their products available as native VST products.
