Subject:Rendering Question

I keep noticing every time I "Save As" it automatically saves my song into the song format of my choice (I usually choose wma). I can than play this on my Windows Media Player.
My question is: I never see the "Render As" option available. It's there, but it's grayed out and not accessible. Does that only become available when you actually record something onto Soundforge? I've usually been opening files onto SF 8.0, but never recording. Just curious why this feature is never available to me when working on projects. Thanks for you help.

Hi Bryant,

Rendering is only available when using Sound Forge Project files. Using SFP files, you can edit your audio non-destructively leaving your original audio files untouched and allowing you to undo edits in future sessions. Rendering is similar to Save As except that you are creating (rendering or saving) a permenent copy of the SFP file as audio.
